Squee! I bought a scooter! It looks basically like this, but maybe a little less shiny. Mine's an 03, about 800 miles, but been through a bunch of dealer inspections. Thanks to Shawn I'm pretty sure I even got a good deal on it. We almost got swindled with a bunch of prep fees, but Shawn got them waived. Yay Shawn! Yay scooter! I still need to get the insurance before they deliver it, but their insurance guy wasn't in today and I'm pretty sure he'll be able to beat the quote State Farm gave me, so I'll be taking care of that tomorrow. Squee!
I've actually done a bit more knitting. A friend had a little Indiana Jones mini marathon (Raiders of the Lost Arc and Temple of Doom) and I chugged away on Something Green. I'm off work for two weeks for intersession and I've been looking into getting a scooter! I'm super excited. I'm taking a training class next week. In the meantime I've been debating whether I want the super cheesy 80's looking model which is 80cc and requires a motorcycle license and can go on 45mph roads, but Shawn probably wouldn't drive (the Honda Elite 80) or one of the more Vespa looking 50cc models that Shawn would be more likely to drive, but goes more like 37mph (Honda Metropolitan or Yamaha Vino Classic).
I've actually been weaving a ton, but there's nothing really to show since I'm just weaving yardage and you can't show progress the way you can with knitting. It looks the same from the top/front:

(It's not really that bowed, I just have the tension slacked.)
If you look at the side real close you can kind of tell there's more there though:
The new rule is we only buy puzzles that offer missing piece replacement services.

I'm guessing that piece is missing because of something like this:

B had been up on the windowsill and jumped down to greet me as I came in the front door. I was pretty sure I had heard a big swoosh noise. Thankfully the puzzle stayed amazingly intact considering...
Take a minute to read this article. We still have a lot of work to do.
So we finished the last puzzle - minus two pieces that went missing. We think it was a combined effort between B and Mashti, but it's possible that Mashti could have accomplished it on her own. Luckily the puzzle company offers a replacement piece service. From Spain. So that should be here in about a month. Yeah.
I forgot to take a picture of it before we started the next one, which, due to lack of flat surfaces, we started right on top of the last one. My Planet Earth puzzle is still in limbo in the living room, so we now have 3 active puzzles going. Ha!
This one is way super easier though. We're thinking it would be cool in the kitchen. It even comes with a little chart saying what each of the spices is. I've already called dibs on the Israeli couscous looking one and the blueberry looking one, but if Shawn keeps having to leave to take phone calls I'm going to finish it without him.
I didn't set out to make vegan scrapple. I could make some joke about not knowing why anyone ever would, but I actually liked scrapple as a kid. One of my uncles was pleasantly surprised to find out how much I enjoyed a nice breakfast of scrapple and fried mush with lots of butter and a little syrup. "Why you've got a little bit of country in you after all."
But no, this started as a second go round of the pupusas. Then I got lazy and started stirring my fillings right into the dough. I had some black beans that I had cooked using a recipe from Fresh and Fast Vegan Pleasures (stir-fried black beans with lime and chili - yum!) and tossed in lime juice, cilantro and some vegan cheese. What I wound up with didn't really keep its shape, isn't really a pupusa, but sure did taste good!
